While this programme is school-based, we understand how important connecting pupils’ school and home lives is when thinking about children’s wellbeing. We’d love for you to have a go at some of our “Try it at Home” series with your children / the children in your care, which will reinforce the class learning at home.

Lesson 1

This week, pupils explored ways in which to process and normalise their COVID-19 experiences.

The Try it at Home Exercise for lesson one:

  • At home, pupils are encouraged to create a paper boat using a blank piece of paper and based on the instructions provided in class, this can be the pupils’ Hope Boat. They should write their feelings on the inside of the boat. On the outside of the boat, they should write what keeps their boats strong and afloat, for example family, friends, hobbies, etc.

Lesson 2

This week pupils were introduced to the topics of wellbeing and resilience, and the factors that enhance or lessen our wellbeing.

The Try it at Home Exercise for lesson two:

  • At home, pupils are encouraged to complete their Wellbeing Diary for the week.

Lesson 3

This week pupils explored the topic of feelings and were supported to identify their feelings within this lesson.

The Try it at Home Exercise for lesson three:

  • At home, pupils are encouraged to create their own emoji-person at home, decorate the emoji, and write some words associated with that emotion into the body of the emoji character.

Lesson 4

This week pupils learned about understanding feelings, thoughts and actions, and the relationship between them.

The Try it at Home Exercise for lesson four:

  • At home, pupils are encouraged to complete a match activity between thoughts and feelings. Pupils can also complete a thoughts – feelings – actions circle about a time they would like to reflect upon.

Lesson 5

This week pupils expanded on last week’s lesson on understanding feelings, thoughts and actions, and the relationship between them.

The Try it at Home Exercise for lesson five:

Lesson 6

This week pupils focused on healthy friendships and relationships with others, the importance of boundaries, positive self-talk and the importance of speaking to an adult.
