Award – Winning Movement

A Lust for Life is a award winning youth mental health charity with a focus on early prevention education. The impact we wish to achieve is to create a generational circuit breaker in how we talk about and treat mental health in Ireland, by giving children and young people tools and skills to enhance and protect their mental health from the earliest age.

Our mission is to empower and educate all young people in Ireland through early preventative mental health programmes driving positive changes in their lives and our world.

Important Milestone

Reaching the pilot stage of the A Lust for Life Schools Programme in 2020 was a hugely important and emotional milestone for us as an organisation. This programme is our response to the overwhelming number of requests for help and support we have received (and continue to receive) from schools, teachers and children across Ireland – and is the result of many years of planning and fundraising.

Empowering Teachers

We hope the programme will empower teachers to support meaningful dialogue on mental wellbeing and will ultimately connect every child in Ireland beyond school walls. We believe it is an innovative, scalable and relevant response to the significant anxiety and other mental wellbeing challenges we know exist in Irish schools today. We also believe it is our responsibility to future generations to act now to urgently transform the way we talk about and treat mental health in schools, influencing and amplifying a society that centres on kindness, empathy and non-judgement.

Our Goal

The A Lust for Life Schools Programme aims to build resilience and enhance the emotional literacy and awareness of 1st to 6th class primary school children. Through this programme, children will develop a set of self-care tools which empowers them to understand their own minds as well as increase their confidence in taking care of their minds.

This programme is our response to the overwhelming number of requests for help and support we have received (and continue to receive) from schools, teachers and children across Ireland – and is the result of 2+ years of planning, development and fundraising. We believe it will evolve to be an innovative, scalable and relevant response to the significant anxiety and other mental wellness challenges we know exist in Irish schools today. We hope this programme will empower teachers to support meaningful dialogue on mental wellness and will ultimately connect every child in Ireland beyond school walls.
